Admissions to Year 7: Welcome to all our September 2018 Freshers
We’d like to offer a big warm welcome to all parents and students who have been offered a place for September 2018. Thank you for choosing our school. We’re delighted your child is joining our happy and ambitious school community.
Starting secondary school is incredibly exciting, but it can also be a nervous time. So we’ve arranged some great Freshers' events between now and September. These will calm any nerves, help your child feel happy and confident with your choice, and give your family a flying start here.
Countdown to September! Events for Freshers and Parents
3-6 April, 10 till 3pm – Easter Sports Camp
4 days jam–packed with fun sports activities. Your child can meet their new classmates, get to know their surroundings, and enjoy our brilliant sports facilities. All 4 days for only £5, including a free Haverstock goodie. Places are still available: sign up at Haverstock School Reception, ask at your primary school, or email Jamie Histed.
15 & 16 May, 4–6pm – Transition Evening **
This is the most important event of the transition period. Bring your child to meet their new Head of Year, and find all the key information ready for September. The evening includes sessions on uniform, enrichment activities, Summer School, and curriculum. **All new students and parents are required to attend this one! We'll write to invite you with full details next term.
28-31 May, 10 till 3pm – Half-term Sports Camp
Jam–packed with fun sports activities. Your child can meet their new classmates, get to know their surroundings, and enjoy our brilliant sports facilities. Early July – Freshers’ Day
All our new Year 7 students spend a whole day in school. Watch this space for more information.
9-13 July – Freshers’ Week (Year 5's are also welcome)
Taster sessions after school every day with fun activities in arts, music and drama, ICT, literacy, science and sports. Watch this space for more information.
30 July – 2 August – Freshers’ Summer School 1
Our Summer School is 8 days of brilliant activities and a fantastic introduction to life at Haverstock School. Week 1 is completely free to all our new Year 7’s! To book, pick up a leaflet at Haverstock School Reception or email Jamie Histed.
6 August – 9 August – Freshers’ Summer School 2
Another brilliant burst of activities to introduce your child to school life. £10 for the 4 days. Or come along with a Year 5 pupil and both children go free!
Tue 4 Sept – First day of Autumn Term!
Year 7 start term a day earlier than everyone else, giving your child a head start on settling in to their new surroundings.
